MBA Sports Management Students enjoy Specialization Program
From July 8-22 our first cohort of MBA students enjoyed their Specialization Program. The program kicked off in Amsterdam during the 3×3 European Championship Basketball. The location was chosen with a reason. The Dutch Basketball Association (NBB), host of the European Championship 3×3, had invited our students to really live basketball for a weekend in order to have the right background to work on their strategic assignment: the future of Dutch basketball.
Frank Leenders, Director General of FIBA Marketing & Media kicked off the specialization program with the module International Sports Marketing. 2 Very exciting days followed with guest lectures of Bart Prinssen of Janssen en Fritsen International, Frank Rutten of Fox Sports Network and front row visits to the finals of the 3×3 Championships. Then it was back to the class room at Maastricht School of Management for lectures of Christoph Glaser of the World Forum for Ethics in Business covering Ethics in Sport. On Wednesday a site visit to the KNVB Campus was scheduled incorporating several lectures of senior staff members. On Thursday John van de Laar, managing director of SportBizz lectured on Sports Sponsoring together with the formerCMO of PSV Eindhoven Peter Rovers. Antoine Duval and Ben van Rompuy of the renown Asser Institute lectured on legal issues in sport on Friday and Arno Wijnands, Group Insurance Manager of Endemolshine (formerly AON sports) covered the module Liabilities in Sport on Saturday. Frans Cornelis (former Randstad executive and chair of the Dutch Rowing Association) lectured on the very important subject, governance in sport. On Monday the group travelled to Amsterdam again to enjoy a 3-day lecturing of the complete management team of Amsterdam Arena (module Event and Facility Management). On Thursday July 20 Mark Schuurman started with the last module: High Performance Management.
The students enjoyed a very inspiring yet challenging roadtrip though the world of sports. Have a look at our promo.
